How Hotel Campal Came to Be
Hotel Campal was established in Panaji’s Campal neighbourhood — a residential enclave of Portuguese houses, garden lanes, and the cultural gravity of Kala Academy. We were built not as a destination, but as a base. A place from which to explore Goa properly, at your own pace.
Over the years, the hotel grew alongside Panaji — watching the city market expand, welcoming families who came for Goa Carnival, housing government contractors and corporate guests during working weeks, and serving as a quiet retreat for couples who found beach resorts too chaotic.
Why Campal?
Campal is the part of Panaji that most tourists miss — and most Goans love. Quiet residential lanes, Portuguese colonial houses with painted facades and carved balconies, the Campal gardens by the Mandovi river, and Kala Academy — Goa’s premier cultural centre — directly opposite our entrance. From Campal, you are 2 minutes from INOX, 10 minutes walking from the Kadamba bus stand, and a short auto ride from anywhere in Panaji. Miramar Beach is 2 km. The Mandovi riverside casinos are 1.5 km. Old Goa is 11 km. You are not isolated — you are positioned.
